Solid Trio Build?
Alright so a few buddies and myself have been thinking of an MMORPG to play for the summer while we are waiting for future MMORPG/RTS/FPS's to release and we have decided to settle on Guild Wars. We have played various other MMO's in the past and are looking to play a fair amount of PvE with primary focus on PvP. We are a team of three real life friends (maybe a fourth later) who are looking to make a solid group build. I have done a decent amount of reading about classes/professions and have found that it hasn't really lead me to any concrete decisions. So far the three of us have the following professions in mind but please feel free to offer and advice/tips on good smaller group (3-4) PvP builds, anything could help.
Me: Elementalist or Ranger as Primary (There are so many combinations but i could really use some advice on the best combo's/secondaries) 2nd Buddy: Necromancer (Unsure on secondary) 3rd Buddy: Warrior (Possibly monk secondary) So basically after playing various MMO's it is obvious that a tank, healer, and DPS are always needed but PvP is far more than that. Any Advice would be very beneficial to us even if it has nothing to do with our ideas above. Thanks for your time! So far we only have Prophecies and are considering buying Nightfall in the near future. |

PvP has teams of usually 4 and 8, and 6 a while back in ha. Your build of a "tank, healer, and dps" are kind of skewed. You dont need a tank in pvp, warriors are more based on damage dealing in pvp. Monks make the best healers and most teams in pvp use atleast one or up to three.

Something to keep in mind regarding your trinity...
Your healer and dps roles are pretty standard fare, but 'tanking' as you know it from other games doesn't really exist in Guild Wars. There are no 'hey-look-at-me' aggro attraction skills in the game. Additionally the monster AI is written to focus on the weakest, least durable players first. As a result, melee characters tend to focus primarily on damage output and relegate self-preservation to a rather minimal role. |

Unless you are entering a farmable area, that would fail in general. The monk would be shutdown, the elementalist will be overwhelmed (very fragile things), and the warrior won't be able to take down all the enemies everywhere. Think of the leeroy jenkins video (an absolute massacre).
